A simple recipe packed with flavor, great for a quick week night and a good meal planning choice. Top it with your favorite flavors or add some hot sauce to give it your personal twist.
Drain the excess liquid and place the tofu on a tray or plate line with paper towels or a clean lint free towel. Cover with more towels and press with something heavy. Allow it to sit this way while you continue with the recipe.
Mix the following ingredients and set aside.
Remove the tofu from the tray and cut it into 1" dices.
Add the oil and preheat the pan to 445°F/ 230°C (high).
Add half of the tofu and cook for 3 minutes without stirring. While the tofu sears, line a plate or tray with paper towels and set aside.
Flip the tofu and continue cooking for 3 more minutes. You may stir occassionally for a more even sear.
Transfer the tofu to the prepared plate, then continue cooking the remaining tofu.
Once all the tofu has been seared, make sure to add it all back into the pan.
Add the listed ingredients, then reduce the heat to 350°F/ 175°C (medium) and finish the tofu by coating it with the hoisin and soy sauce.
Turn off the heat, then scoop some of the tofu filling into the crunchy lettuce leaves, top with the sprouts, leaves and some sauce. Squeeze some fresh lime juice for a fresh finish.
